Precision Machining Services
As an industry leader in precision CNC machining for the aerospace, energy, defense, and commercial manufacturing sectors, Decimal Engineering, Inc. utilizes the most advanced equipment and software available. With ever-increasing complexity and precision requirements for machined parts, set-ups and specialized tooling can become a critical cost concern. However, by maintaining a variety of sophisticated equipment, including combination Mill/Turn centers which have a combined 9-axis machining capability, these costs can be contained and even reduced. These systems allow for the machining of virtually any geometry with a single set-up, and set-up times can be practically negligible. With a combination of innovative equipment and lean manufacturing processes, we are able to provide customers with premium quality machined components while remaining very price competitive.
Though work piece size capacities will vary depending on machining requirements, the diversity of our equipment allows us to offer a variety of work envelopes. Our 3-axis vertical mills are capable of machining parts up to 60″ in length, 25″ in width, and 27″ in height, while our 4-axis horizontal mills have a work envelope of 22″ x 20″ x 20″. Last but not least, are our 9-axis Mill/Turn centers which are capable of machining parts up to 8.2″ in diameter by 12″ in length. Specific dimensional tolerances are also evaluated on a per job basis; however, we regularly hold tolerances as close as ±0.0005″ and are also comfortable with geometric tolerances.
These capabilities are supported by a robust quality program and testing equipment such as our CMM. In use, this CMM can operate in a fully automated mode. It will perform all of the necessary calculations and move the measurement probe according to programmed instructions. With the push of one button, first article reports can easily be performed.
The flexibility of our precision machining service are augmented by the wide range of materials that we can work with; this includes aluminum, steel, stainless steel, various alloys, exotics, engineered plastics and many more. We can also provide a long list of finishing services; some of these include precision grinding, polishing, wet painting, powder coating and a variety of plating. For NADCAP certified finishing, we work with a number of trusted suppliers who can provide full process compliance.
