The
company was founded in 1968 by Roy Bryan and Vince Crossman. They worked
out of a 2,500 square foot facility in Ft. Lauderdale.
In 1980, the Garey Family purchased the business. With the purchase of
Decimal, Mike and Priscilla owned 70%, leaving the remaining 30% to their
sons (Alan, Mark & Kevin).
With this purchase, the Garey family had acquired a business with only
10 - 15 employees and everything was manual. They decided to upgrade with
the purchase of their first punch press, a Diacro. After that they continually
upgraded the equipment and were forced to expand. They purchased the building
next door expanding the square footage to 6,500, and later built on increasing
the square footage to approximately 8,000.
In 1983 Decimal, due to their growth, was forced to relocate to Pompano
Beach where they purchased this building which, at the time was only 26,000
sq. ft. In 1986 they built on and added another 14,000. At this time there
were approximately 40 employees.
In 1993, Alan, Mark & Kevin entered into a Trust Agreement with their
parents for the additional 70% over the next 11 years.
Over the past few years, Decimal has replaced the turret presses with
new state-of-the-art systems, built material handling systems, added press
brakes with multiaxes backgauges, robotic welding, gang spotwelding, and
an automatic panel bender.
Currently, Decimal is fully automated and employs 80+ people, working
2 shifts. Sales have grown on an average of 15% per year for the last
several years.
